Worrisome Cat

Mr Jet, oldest of my three cats (he’s about five and a half now) is at the vet’s, getting a catheter for a urinary blockage. They will know what sort of blockage and how bad it is once they’ve cleared it (and relieved his poor bladder.) Good thoughts are appreciated.

Hope this procedure does the trick and that it’s nothing serious. My felines and I send good thoughts to you and yours.

Thank you, and to the felilnes. I’m sure Mr Marcus and Miss Sundae are worried about him-they don’t like when someone goes away in the box and doesn’t come back. Heck, even Tucker and Puff are probably concerned, and they’re scared to death of him. (He’s seventeen pounds and likes to periodically smack the dogs to remind them who owns the place.)

Good thoughts sent! He is a beautiful cat. I hope it’s something simple, that can be easily cleared and corrected. Will you make sure you update?

Me, too. He might end up needing the special gushyfood for cats with urinary issues, if it’s crystals in the bladder causing the problem. I’m sure he felt a lot better once they had the catheter in and he could pee again. No news is good news so far….

Thank you! Lucky’s “real” (ie actual date of birth) birthday is acutally coming up, so it’s both belated and early!

My Emperor Tigere is a February foal, so he’s looking forward to the second half of his birthday wishes, too! At which point he will be Of A Certain Age. I can’t bear to be reminded that he’s getting older.

The way Lucky acts you’d think he was a certain age, but he’s a 2002 model and therefore only nine. He does his best to convince me that’s a misprint and he’s actually 29 and therefore should be stuffing himself on senior feed and not doing this work crap.

That’s pretty funny, because my fellow is exactly the opposite. He IS a certain age but acts like he’s, oh, maybe four. He looks fantastic for his age (17 next month!), so I hope I can remain in denial for a nice long while yet.

Well, he’s eating and appears to be feeling better, although he’s definitely sleepy. That might be the antibiotics. But he seems much relieved, and probably happy to be home after two nights in hospital.

What a handsome cat. I hope Mr Jet is feeling better. I’ve had two male cats develop this problem. Vets used to operate for this condition, which the first cat underwent and made a full recovery. Now they usually treat with diet. My Tonka had trouble about 6 years ago. He was on special food for about a year. He has been on a regular diet since and is now 13. Hopefully Mr. Jet will soon be fine.

Well, he is currently on his s/d diet with urinary health canned, and he’s feeling well enough to scare the dogs and pound on the little cat (he just grabs her periodically to remind her who’s boss. His other method of dealing with her is to sit on her and give her a bath until she gives up and moves off the pillow or chair he wants.) So fingers crossed!
