No, I didn’t go to the barn today. But in a brief update, no more kitbashing jumps! Mom and Dad are bringing the standards and cups down. And I should be able to fit in rides on Friday and Saturday before leaving on my vacation.
In other news, it’s probably a good thing after all that on-line wagering seems to be illegal in Michigan. At least, if the success of my wagering at tvgfree.net is any indication. I’m something like $70 in the hole so far. (Plus, tvgfree is proving to be insanely difficult to access. I can’t tell if it hates Firefox or my connection.) However, even without looking I suspect I did not, even virtually, come anywhere close to today’s Belmont Pick Six. And another of Lucky’s cousins (Copelan County) failed to come through for me early in the day. So much for the hunch play. I had better luck gambling with real money at Suffolk Downs.
And yes, I’m one of those people who both rides and goes to the track to bet, not just to look at the horsies. I am totally one of the people snickering in Let It Ride when Trotter has to explain to his irate wife “There is no racing without betting.” And at some point I’m going to have to do a post about why that is my favorite horse movie.
